luz

Co-founder of Room 4 Resistance and Ecology of Care, luz (they/them) is a neuroqueer DJ, curator, promoter, radio-host and community organizer. Their practice of nightlife is anchored in queer feminist spaces, grassroots organizing, community care, harm reduction and creative experimentation.

Luz puts together tracks they love at the crossroads of different club music styles and influences, bringing you on an explorative and cinematographic journey. UK bass, breaks, polyrhythmic, leftfield, experimental, D’n’B, House, deep techno, and electro are all part of their palette as they build narratives across genres; evoking feelings that elevate dancefloors into intimate, sweaty, and transformative spaces for queers, nerds and misfits from all walks of life.

Luz has both curated and co-presented the Room 4 Resistance radio show since 2016; which first aired on Cashmere Radio and Radio Quantica, and is now bi-monthly on Refuge Worldwide. They also presented “IEL”, a 3-months podcast residency for Crack magazine.

Over the years, luz has performed at countless international venues and festivals, with highlights including Panorama Bar and Tresor (Berlin), De School (Amsterdam), Et Andet Sted (Copenhagen), Inkonst (Malmö, Sweden), Hot Mass (Pittsburgh), Movement’s Industry Brunch (Detroit), La Station Gare Des Mines (Paris), C12 (Brussels), and 5 Miles (London). They've also performed at festivals such as Unsound (Krakow), Nyege Nyege (Jinja, Uganda), CTM (Berlin), Horst Music and Arts (Brussels) and Field Maneuvers (UK).
